Choosing Aesthetics Over Surgery

January 5, 2017Aesthetic AwakeningNews

Acne scars appear as the body works to repair damage to the follicle walls. During this process, the skin is rebuilding connective tissue (or collagen ), which is what provides its strength.

  • Hypertrophic scarring, which produces a raised appearance on the surface of the skin, is caused by excessive amounts of callogen secreted during the healing process.
  • Keloid scars, on the other hand, which are more commonly associated with acne, tend to expand over time and can be painful or cause itching.

Choosing Aesthetics Over the Surgical Option
Generally speaking, treatment is a process that takes place over several visits. Studies have shown that laser treatments have been largely successful in removing keloid scars, whereas more invasive procedures have only been successful about 50-percent of the time. In fact, after traditional surgery, at least 70-percent of patients have reportedly experienced the reappearance of scars. Since, early detection is always the best treatment consulting a certified specialist is always recommended.

Why Aesthetic Treatment is a Clear Alternative
When seriously considering treatment, many people wonder whether it’s worth the time and money. Obviously, a number of home remedies are available, mostly in the form of skin creams. Although, many people who use them receive little to no results, and those who see a reduction in the appearance of acne scars do so after countless applications. Several professional treatment options exist, including Botox and soft tissue fillers, although some require periodic treatments. However, their limited side effects is one of many reason for their growth in popularity. The best way to determine which method is right for you is to seek the advice of a dermatologist.

Improvements in Skin Treatments
The emergence of innovative treatments has caused clients to gravitate toward minimally invasive procedures. In addition, new applications for existing treatments has provided inspiration for prospective patients who might have approached aesthetics with some reluctance. Botox, for instance, was primarily used to treat wrinkles, but recent discoveries have demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing the size of pores. Maintaining healthy and great-looking skin requires extensive care, which is why millions of aesthetic procedures are performed each year.
